It is operational, and is being rolled out throughout the Agency. I have one of the new radios on my belt and in my car (PG Police officer 21+ years). It's a good radio. The only problem is that the folks that are still on the analog radios are hard to understand with the new radios. Face it - they're taking a 495mhz signal, changing it to a 700 mhz signal and then going from analog to digital. The analog radios on the new system sound kinda like Stephan Hawking. However, when you're listening to somebody who also has the new radio it sounds like they're sitting next to you. I believe the goal is to have everyone in PGPD switched over by May, at least that was what I was told when I went through the train-the-trainer class.

>My understanding from the CHM and talking with PG police officers that the new system is operational. Realizing that only select talkgroups (FD only) can be monitored, has anyone monitored increased activity on the P-25 system, and updated the FD and select PD talkgroup assignments? Nothing has been updated on radioreference.com.
