[Scan-DC] Many helicopters flying over Mooresville, NC

Well just east of you is an extensive Alert Area A-531 that according to my sectional map has "extensive military helicopter training 200'-1500' AGL."  This is probably used by Army aviators out of Fort Bragg.  The helicopters that your son saw could be on a cross country training exercise as well.
