[Scan-DC] Bearcat BCT15X for MD/VA use?

As Rich said, don't even bother with an analog trunking scanner; it will be virtually useless.  Check on RadioReference.com, almost every jurisdiction around here has already gone over to 800 MHz digital trunking.

See my other post, the Radio Shack PRO-106 is on sale.  The Uniden radios that Rich mentioned are very good also, but I don't think they ever get away from the $500 price range... I have both RS and Unidens and for me the choice would come down to price.

There's been a lot of stuff written about both of them in the RadioReference wiki and on this list if you want more info.
