Yup. CFIT generally refers to outcomes when you run into a mountain,
rising terrain, or an unrecognized slow decent into the ground. The
implication is that the pilot did not realize that he was in extremis,
and blindly flew into the ground without reaction. Happens mostly in
at night or in IFR conditions - or both.
