and from the DCRTV Mailbag:
The reason WETA DT 27 has a signal problem is because they were not able
to properly maximize their DTV signal because MPT (Maryland Public
Television) chose not maximize its Frederick station WFPT DTV 28, which
is an adjacent channel. Since WFPT runs on such low power, that limits
the power of WETA on channel 27. I'm sure part of the reason was cost
(MPT didn't maximize its Baltimore station either), but you have to
wonder if they also knew that it would impact the WETA signal and
possibly did it on purpose. (8/25/09)
