Alan,

I visited the Finnish and Belgian embassies up by the Naval Observatory.
Since those were more out-of-the-way, there were almost no lines. The
Belgian Embassy was giving out excellent chocolate. The Finnish embassy had
a spread of really good Finnish food. The only radios I saw while I was
there was the Belgian Embassy greeter, and he was just using what appeared
to be a standard FRS/GMRS radio.

By the way, for all the time nuts like me, the Naval Observatory has a giant
digital clock at the entrance, which is set to their atomic clock. The USNO
is charged with being the chief timekeeper for the military, like NIST is
the timekeeper for the public.

Andy

This was the second Saturday for the D.C. embassy open houses.

The lines rivaled Disney World, but the wait was often worth it.

More embassy staff carried two-way radios than in the past.
Unfortunately many just were not talking while we visited.

I expected to see some high-end gear, at least from the super powers,
but mostly saw old analog Motorola business-style radios. One guard
at the British Embassy had an old Motorola GP300 or GP350. Italy had
the Motorola cls1410 (or similar).

Here are a few freqs of interest:

464.5500s [67.0] Embassy of Italy

>From a previous visit to the German Embassy I had frequency counter
hits on these freqs but unable to positively identify:

171.7625
172.5625
468.4125 catering

The Embassy of Canada has two repeater channels:

464.6750r/s [d306]
463.5250r/s [d306]

Does anybody have other embassy frequency finds to share?
