Very pleased with the RS PRO-197 digiscanner that I got just after Xmas... ordered it when they had the $200-off sale that ran through December 24... the pre-programmed stuff is a little urky only because it uses the alpha tags from RadioReference... for Muttgummery County, these are the ones that are actually used in the po-lice car and far truck radios, and are, well, less than descriptive (no reflection on RR, I just think it's a dumb way to describe them and I bet the "real" radios have a large enough field that longer, more descriptive tags could be used). Also, the talkgroups are entered in numerical order, which is not always logical and doesn't always coincide with the jurisdiction's designations (ie, Mgummery added a few talkgroups after the fact, one is 7-Kilo and it doesn't follow 7-J).
Of course, that stuff is easy enough to change once one is familiar with programming.
Gotta get to bed, but if this radio goes on sale again at that price, I'd say you can't miss.
By the way, the Unidens are equally good IMO, but I've never seen them on sale for $200 off!
And thanks again to those who posted the info about that sale before Xmas!
