Subject: [Scan-DC] learning about digital scanners

There's a tremendous amount of information on this topic on the
RadioReference Wiki...(anything in blue or underlined is a link)

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Category:Digital_Scanners
The above lists all the digital capable scanners, including the new RS ones.
Just click on the model or topic for more information.

http://marksscanners.com/index.html.
The recently-changed home of the 'Easier to Read' series of scanner manuals,
including those for the 396 and 996.

As for software, although the Butel offerings for the Uniden models are
generally considered the king, don't overlook FreeScan and BCTool. FreeScan
is a bit more mature now than BCTool (poor Rob hasn't been able to work on
it lately due to his real job...). With a premium subscription to
RadioReference, it's a snap to download data from the database to program
your radios.
