PRESS RELEASE
International R/C Helicopter Event: 2008 Heli-Invasion
October 3rd - 5th, 2008 in Thornburg, VA
Thornburg, VA, Sept. 26: The Fredericksburg Area R/C Club announces
the 2008 Heli-Invasion (www.heli-
invasion.com), a radio controlled helicopter demonstration and fun fly
to take place at Robbie Campbell Memorial
Airfield, in Thornburg, VA on October 3,4 & 5, 2008.
More than 150 pilots from around the nation and 200 spectators are
expected for this three day extreme flight, R/C
helicopter event. This event will be one of the East Coastʼs premiere
events for seeing the latest in R/C helicopters
and will include educational seminars, product demonstrations, and
extreme 3D aerobatic stunt shows.
Many of todayʼs hottest sponsored, professional pilots will be in
attendance, including Curtis Youngblood (5 Time
World Champion, 16 Time National Champion) from Team JR, Marcus Kim
from Team Avant/ElyQ, Nick Maxwell
from Team Miniature Aircraft, Bert Kammerer from Team Align and Jared
Granzow.
While many of the attendees will be avid helicopter modelers, this
event is expected to draw many spectators and
families from around the area. With the aid of computer flight
simulators and training helicopters, non-modelers will
be invited to try their hand at flying a radio controlled helicopter.
“The 2008 Heli-Invasion is without question the most prestigious R/C
Helicopter Event on the East Coast,” said
Joe Coppola, Event Organizer and Contest Director for the
Heli-Invasion. “With demonstrations from professional
pilots, educational seminars and beginner flying, this will be a great
event for the whole family to enjoy. And thatʼs
what this hobby is all about family-oriented fun.”
This event is only made possible by donations from our event sponsors
including Hobby Hangar of Chantilly, VA
(www.hobbyhangarva.com), OutrageRC (www.outragerc.com), u-neak
DESIGNS (www.u-neakdesigns.com) and
HeliProz (www.heliproz.com). Their generous financial support is
critical to the success of these types of events.
