Is anyone else hearing anything this afternoon on the new system? I have
not heard anything for the last couple of hours.

Chris

Hi Andy:

Thanks for the info.

I programmed the new system in last night and it was working pretty well
until this afternoon. I'm not hearing anything now?

Any ideas?

Chris,

I presume you are talking about the analog simulcast of the digital system?
Yes, they have problems with the dispatch side. Sometimes it's not there at
all, and at other times it's there but cuts in and out badly. Also, many
channels such as PD 1B, 1C, 1D, and others; and the fire dispatch (1A) don't
seem to be on the analog simulcast at all.

You need to switch to the digital scanner to get the whole story! I
programmed my BCD396T and it seems to be tracking the system fine, although
the audio quality is not as good as analog.

Cheers,
Andy

I've noticed that I can hear the PD mobile units, but I don't hear dispatch
at all. In terms of FD, the only thing that I have noticed so far is that
they are using the old 1F as 1B.

I have not had a chance to program my BC296D with the new system. I hoping
that it will work w/ the new system? I have the P25. Does anyone have the
new info? I'm sure it's been sent out already and I missed it.

Thanks!

They're going to turn around soon. The visibility here (Ches Beach)
is miserable. I'm surprised their even flying.

This morning when I drove to work, Arlington was still using its analog
system. Tonight on my way home, listening on my analog-only BC246T, it is
apparent that Arlington began (sometime today, as predicted) using its
digital system, and simulcasting the PD dispatch channel on the analog
system. The dispatcher side sounds pure analog, while the field units sound
like simulcast from digital. They probably patch the dispatch audio directly

into the analog system, instead of simulcasting it from the digital channel.

I have noticed, however, that the dispatcher's transmissions on the analog
system is often partially cut off, sometimes at the beginning and sometimes
at the end of the transmissions. Kind of annoying.

Interestingly, listening to PD channel 1E (the records channel), that one
sounds pure analog, in both directions. Are they using multiple radios in
their vehicles, or some strange hybrid of digital and analog channels?

At the moment, there is a large fire contingent dispatched to a street
somewhere near my apartment (which is not unusual -- lots of false alarms in

nearby apt buildings). What is unusual is that I have heard nothing on the
analog fire channels. I wonder if they are not simulcasting the fire
channels at the moment?

Anyone else discover any interesting things so far?

Cheers,
Andy

I'm noticing the system using frequencies:
860.9375
866.7125
860.9375
860.7625
858.9375
858.7625
857.9375
857.7625
856.9375

so far, with the control channel of 860.4375.

So far the TG data on radioreference.com seems to be right, though I
think TG's 62 through 66 appear to be Sheriffs Dep't - primarily court
& jail ops, plus several additional TG's in the '80's [81, 82 & 89]
sound like county sanitation/maintenance.
