[Scan-DC] MSP 800 MHz Question

I don't know of a web site devoted to this.  However, I can shed some light
on this.  My firm recently won one of the Maryland State Radio Contracts so
I have some visibility into what is going on.  I am also a member of the
Region 20 700 and 800 MHz group.  

 

Several of the MSP barracks use 800 MHz cross patched to local counties.
These include Montgomery, Frederick, and Howard.  The troopers carry XTS's
in their cars and talk to their dispatcher either that way or via their low
band mobile.  The audio is usually poor. 

 

The State is in the process of completing a RFP for a Statewide 700 MHz true
P25 multi-vendor system with Transportation taking the lead. This is a big
long term project with budget challenges.  MSP will use this when built.
