Well, it's amazing what you can find on the internet. As I suspected, a multilator is a respirator unit that can deliver oxygen to multiple patients from one O2 cylinder.
What I _didn't_ know is that not only was the artist Vincent Van Gogh a great painter, he was also a self-multilator!

I was looking at the PowerPoint presentation on Montgomery County's new MedCareSupU (see post from the other day, http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/content/FireRescue/dcQuicklinks/), and I see on slide #9 that it's equipped with 4 "multilators". Anybody here know what a multilator is? (Yeah, yeah, I'm going to google it as soon as I finish this... shoulda done that first!) I have an idea what it might be... but when I first read it, I thought it said that the vehicle was equipped with 4 "mutilators", which would seem to be a useful thing for a medical support unit. Haha.
