Thanks. I was aware that control-channel-only trunking was an option with 800 MHz systems and other standard band plans, but I was assuming that the STARS system, with its virtually random, geography-dependent assignment of VHF frequencies, required a little more information. But I will definitely look into trying CCO on STARS--that would certainly be the easiest route!

Programming STARS in a 396/996 does not require the base and offset
settings. Enter the control channels and the scanner will do the rest,
self-populating the band plan. The RS scanners require it to be entered.
