Montgomery County Fire & Rescue units are on the scene of a significant
water main break in Bethesda, in the area of Bradley Boulevard and Fairfax
Road... basements in homes are being flooded more quickly than water can be
pumped out... power is being cut off to homes that are being evacuated.
Command has been established, Rescue Squad 18 and Truck 6 are among units on
the scene, as is Red Cross and WSSC (water utility, Washington Suburban
Sanitary Commission). Also heard a request to have the PIO (Pete Perringer
Public Information Officer) on the scene. One road, possibly Bradley, may
be washed out.

Fire dept operations on 7-Lima of the county trunked radio system. Can't
quickly find a frequency for WSSC.

Traffic in the area is almost certainly a mess, of course; avoid if at all
possible.

Mobile command post and Safety-1 currently being dispatched.

(Good luck to anyone in the area!)
