Emergency Exercise at Dulles Airport on Saturday, May 5

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is conducting an
emergency exercise at Washington Dulles International Airport on
Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to approximately 12 noon. This simulated
aircraft accident will test the Airport’s emergency operations plan
and provide hands-on training to airport and mutual aid emergency
response personnel. The exercise will not affect normal airport
operations.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be numerous emergency vehicles operating in
the area of Route 50 and the Airport and smoke will be visible from
the area of Dulles Airport next Saturday morning, all part of the
exercise.

FOR THE MEDIA:

Media wishing to cover the emergency exercise must RSVP in advance by
contacting the Office of Public Affairs. All attendees must bring
government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s license, on
the day of the event. Please RSVP by Thursday, May 3.

Plan to arrive at the security checkpoint entrance off of Route 50 no
later than 8:30 a.m. Driving directions to the designated entrance and
a map will be provided upon RSVP. Once you pass through the security
checkpoint, signs will direct you to the media parking area, which is
in walking distance to the observation area.
