BRAD THOMAS BURN FUND ESTABLISHED
BOWLING GREEN, VA: The Bowling Green Volunteers are pleased to announce the establishment of the Brad Thomas Burn Relief Fund. This fund has been established to assist Brad and his family with financial support during his recovery and rehabilitation period.
Brad Thomas is the Fire Chief of the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department in Caroline County. He and another firefighter, Eric Chenault, were injured on Sunday, February 18, 2007 while fighting a house fire. Both men received burns when they were caught in a flashover-type event inside the house. The men were forced to jump to safety from a second story window.
Eric Chenault was released from the hospital a few days later with 1st and 2nd degree burns to his back, head, and neck. Eric continues to recover from his injuries at home. Chief Thomas remains in the burn unit of VCU Medical Center and will stay hospitalized for an undetermined amount of time. Thomas received 1st and 2nd degree burns on 50% of his body as well as 3rd degree burns on his arms. He is facing extensive rehabilitation as well as skin grafting operations.
In cooperation with Union Bank & Trust, the Fire Department created the fund to help support the family during this difficult time. Anyone wishing to contribute can visit any area Union Bank & Trust branch. You may also send contributions to P.O. Box 161, Bowling Green VA 22427. Please make checks payable to the BRAD THOMAS BURN RELIEF FUND.
