Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) issued the following statement
today
after the announcement that the newly formed Air Force District
Washington (AFDW) will relocate from Bolling Air Force Base in
Washington, D.C., to Andrews Air Force Base in Prince George's County,
Md., this year:

"I am so proud the U.S. Air Force has chosen to relocate the Air Force
District Washington to Andrews Air Force Base in Prince George's
County.
This relocation will bring more jobs to Maryland and further increase
the state's role in protecting the National Capital Region.  This move
is a testament to the strength of Maryland's military bases, our
military and the communities that support them.  The Air Force has
acknowledged what Marylanders already know - Maryland plays a critical
role in keeping the Capital Region and our nation secure."
