Your mileage may vary, but in March and in April, I flew to Tokyo (NW) and
Boston (AA) from DCA with an Icom IC-02AT, Bearcat BC-2something (damn,
the write-only memory just kicked in, BC-205XLT, I think) and my GPS,
Garmin Map76, with no problems either way, all in my carry-on. In June, I
took the Icom and the Bearcat on an AA flight DCA to El Paso, also with no
interests from the security folks.
All were operational, I just don't use them in flight. I would suggest that you
make sure they are operational (the batteries are charged), just in case
they ask you to demonstrate that they work.
On the El Paso round trip, they paid far more attention to the laptop than
anything else.
Again, YMMV.
