Enrique,
Welcome to the scanning hobby.
As an Arlington, VA amateur radio operator, I listen to police, fire,
military, aircraft on my Kenwood THF6A tri-band hand-held transceiver
more than I use it on the amateur VHF/UHF bands.
For more information on it try the THF6A reflector:

Good luck,
Tom, WB4J

Hi,
I am relatively new to the scanning hobby. I have been
a ham since 2000 and a denizen of the Citizens Band
when I was a kid, I live in the Metro DC area and
enjoy listening to Air Traffic, Law Enforcement, Fire,
Ham, and other traffic on my recently acquired PRO 95
handheld. Thanks for the great list.
I have been reading Henry L. Eisenson's book Scanners
and Secret Frequencies. I know it's a cheesy title but
a good book. In it he mentions RCMA's Scanner Journal.
I searched for both phrases and found nothing current
online. I'm curious if this group and the journal
still exist and what format the journal came out in.
I'd like to check out a copy or two. Does anyone know
of any scanner hobbyist clubs in the Metro DC area?
All the good numbers.
E.

P.S. The Pro 95 needs a flexible whip antenna and I am
leaning toward a ham handheld dual bander as most of
the stuff I listen to is in the VHF Hi and UHF Low
areas. Anyone got some specific model suggestions? 73.
