Subject: BC296D/BC796D Card Errors

As many of you are aware, we have had a number of customers
experiencing a "Card Error" condition on the BC296D and BC796D. Until
recently, we have been unable to duplicate the issue in Fort Worth,
making diagnosis and correction impossible. Several weeks ago, one of
our techs was able to duplicate the problem. Shortly after that, one
of our chief scanner firmware designers came to our office in order
to complete testing and evaluation of the issue.

We have just released a firmware update for the BCi96D Digital Decode
card that will prevent this error. All customers using these scanners
should apply this update, even if they have not experienced the
error, in order to prevent the error from happening in the future.

The update is located in the download area of the Uniden America

The update is named BCi96DVUP_V1_03.zip and is version 1.3.
