i never post to this list...so i figure while i'm on a roll...
i wrote to andrew at the time of his post:
the fdny instituted a pilot program after 9/11 to record fireground
comms because of the communication issues/failures at the WTC. it just
so happens that one of the batallions responding to the bronx fire was
one of three in the city outfitted with equipment to monitor fireground
communications. as a result of this incident, they are expanding the
program to the entire dept effective immediately.
