Its been a few years but here's what I remember:
TADIL stands for Tactical Data Information Link
(TADIL) and the USAF uses (at least when I left) three
variants: A, C and J. TADIL-A is the same as the
Navy's Link 11 and can be transmitted over HF or UHF.
It is used to transmit plot data and air tracks being
surveilled. TADIL-C is another name for the Navy's
Link 4 and used for air intercept guidance and
control. It comes in two flavors: one for controller-
to-fighter and another for fighter-to-fighter data
transfer. TADIL-C/Link-4 is UHF.
TADIL-J/JTIDS/Link-16 are all the same. Its UHF and
has a variety of data uses including air battle
management, track surveillance, and a voice
capability. Also, IJMS (Interim JTIDS Message
Standard) is a NATO/European theater capability to
transmit data in that environment. Think of it as an
AOL Instant Messenger for NATO milair.
Hope this helps.
