No, it doesn't take much when conditions are right.

I can remember, probably 20 years ago, hearing a 2-meter transmission from
the shuttle as I was driving down I-270 one day.  All I had was a 5/8 on the
trunk.  It was gone in a couple of minutes, but it was as much of a thrill
as nabbing rare DX.
