All,

Looks like some of the MD ANG 135th AS C-130J's have the capability to be
outfitted for airevac missions. In the past month or so I've been logging
C-130J's #97-1353 & #97-1354 flying evac missions.

They will normally depart Martin State Airport, their home base, and fly into
Andrews. There they pick up the evac crew and patients and fly them to
various bases, usually returning to Martin State the same day.

Yesterday (5 Aug) I heard one of the crew members chatting with sqdn
operations (Crab Ops, 385.9). He asked Ops if his aircraft (97-1353) was going to have
an evac mission the next day. He wanted to know so if not he could "tear
down" the evac configuration before they shut down the aircraft. They are
obviously using some sort of modular, flexible cargo compartment configuation which
allows them to conduct various missions as needed.
