Folks,
I figured I would put this out for those of you that monitor the TS at PAX
RIVER. Last night GEM was conducting radio checks and equipment checks on
the PAX system. Heard references to turn to old system off, wait a few
seconds and turn on the new system. I don't think they have switched over
permanently yet but it is in the works.
Even when the new system was up I could still hear them with the current
freqs. So it does not appear to be a digital system. Or at least not at this
point.
I did not see any major difference between the old system and the new but
time will tell.
It might just be new equipment replacing the old equipment with no major
change in the type of system or freqs. Unsure as yet.
I did hear it mentioned that once the new tower is installed coverage area
will improve. So that is one thing to look forward to. This new gear might
just be a newer version of the same gear they have but since they were going
to the new tower, maybe they decided to go with all new equipment. I am
gonna try and scope around and see of I can find the new tower, when I get a
chance.
Anyway, I'll keep an ear on it and if I note any significant changes I'll
post.
