Are you sure about that? I'm in NoVA fairly often but haven't heard that
yet.
In southeast VA The VDOT patrol trucks (SMART) are on 47 MHz.

The Motorist Assistance officers, part of the State Police, are on the the
State Police channels. They are identified by
"M5xx" "M" is motorist assistant, "5" is 5th division, then the unit number.
If you've heard an "M" (M7xx?) unit up there it more than likely NOT a VDOT
unit.
