Will this scanner successfully monitor the following systems?

I currently have no trunked systems where I am (PA) and the new state
system is a proprietary system that I'm sure the PRO-96 will not receive.
However, I am interested in it for traveling if it will receive the above
systems.

Are these difficult to program, or are they stored in the memory of the new
unit? (I forget what the feature was called).

Greg, I don't have a 96 (yet), but just from monitoring this list, along
with the other Maryland scanner lists, the answer is yes to all
3. Baltimore county is not digital, but the other 2 are. And as you
travel to DC you will pass thru Howard county (just went digital, and their
VHF stuff will stay up only until Jan.), Prince George's (490 mhz
conventional) and Montgomery (digital), depending on how you go.
I can't comment on personal experience as to how hard it is to program,
but most seem to be buying the programming cable and using Don Starr's
Win96 program, which gives you access to some features other programs
don't. The feature you're thinking of is the V Scanner; I'm pretty sure DC
Fire and Baltimore city are in there, not sure about the county. There are
numerous Yahoo groups devoted to the digital scanners, and a couple of
message boards on the very popular Strong Signals web site where you can
get more comments on programming, ect.
And as for the Pa. system; yep, nothing on the market will handle the
M/A Com Open Sky system they are attempting to (and from all descriptions
I've seen, badly failing at) implement. 73s and GL...Mike
