8:25 Thursday

Was just overflown by a (possible) USCG HH-65 Dauphin (or MSP
Trooper) which had two searchlights on looking on the waters of the
Bay. Came from the Eastern Shore and headed to the Navy Research
Lab-Chesapeake Beach before turning North. Grabbed the scanner and
started the band of all maritime frequencies and heard:

"We would be willing to assist but we need to know what sort of
equipment is needed."

Unfortunately, I couldn't see the LCD display outside, so it could
have been some fisherman for all I know.

Anyway, the helo went over my house in Chesapeake Beach and I think
it was orange (judging by the color of the fuselage under the
spotlight) but knowing how the night can mess everything up I can't
be sure if it was USCG or MSP. Chopper headed up toward Deale and
Annapolis area, and I haven't heard anything since.
