I was wondering why I could no longer hear the dispatcher side of the

> FORT MEADE, Md. -- A company that handles hundreds of ambulance and
> medical helicopter rides is moving its communications center.
>
> MedStar used to house its communications offices at the Washington
> Hospital Center in the District. Now, after 20 years, a new dispatch
> center is open at Tipton Airport in Anne Arundel County. The company
> said the change will not negatively affect service.
>
> Each year, the company handles 15,000 requests for ambulances and
> 3,200 requests for medical helicopter services.
>
>
> With other locations in Charles, Frederick and Talbot counties,
> MedStar says it can airlift patients to hospitals in about 20 minutes.
>
> The company said its first patients were primarily victims of car
> accidents. However, now accident victims account for only about 8
> percent of air transports while about 90 percent are critical care
> patients who are being moved to other hospitals.
