Hi Jesse
I don't know how common this is, but I've seen similar. My unit used to
lease 900 MHz trunked system usage on the big tower located at MPD-4D at
Georgia & Peabody St. N.W. There was a period of about one to two weeks
when what sounded like a bicycle courier service started popping up on our
talkgroups. It would always happen in the evenings around 4 or 5 pm. It
would go away as fast as it would pop up, but it always happened around the
same time of the evening. It lasted for about one or two weeks, and I guess
the system got fixed, because we never heard it anymore.

Subject: [Scan-DC] TRS weirdness
I drive buses for Shuttle-UM at the University of Maryland and we have
radios in all our buses that are part of the UMD Motorola (analog) trunked
system. We're sharing the system with the campus police, the performing
arts center, and others. Apparently, one of the City of College
Park code enforcement officers also has a radio for this system so he can
call the police for help breaking up loud parties and such.
Recently, when the code enforcement officer is calling the Campus
Police some of the bus radios to start recieving the police
talkgroups instead of shuttle dispatch. In fact, a couple days ago during
one of these periods I heard a fellow driver get connected to the police
dispatcher instead of the bus dispatcher when he tried to call in!
This caused everybody to get rather confused. I'd say there's some
problem with the configuration of the trunk system...
What I'm wondering is if anybody knows how common such programming errors
are with trunked systems. With the recent migration of many area
jurisdictions to trunking, will (for example) the firefighters be looking
forward to getting connected to the trash collection dispatcher
whenever the police are contacting animal control?
