   Agreed.  However, many folks, not kids, can't even figure out how
to change to another channel.  Channel 1 seems to be the default in
all FRS radios.  Those "dumb" folks may need the most help in some
emergency, thus they need to be accommodated.  Channel 1 has already
been designated, by other FRS users, as the 'emergency' channel, so
I guess at this point in time it might be considered as unfruitful
to buck the current trend.
