New to the hobby, sort of, I have been doing a lot of research on which
scanners to buy before throwing my money around, and repair shops and the
like is one thing I looked for.  In most cases (though admittedly I stopped
looking after just a few) shops warned that they did not like to repair AOR
scanners due to a lack of "manufacturer support."   I have since seen the
same statement in several "general scanning info" type websites, none of
which I could specify by URL, as I have been looking through hundreds of
scanner related pages lately.

In short, although I can't help you, if you would post the results of your
effort to fix the thing, at least *I* would be interested to know whether or
not "manufacturer support" is satisfactory.  I decided on the BC250D for
now, but am considering a couple AOR models for the office.
