Welcome aboard, Gary.
Since you have the technical background and the interest,
why don't you consider putting up the audio from your
scanner at work on an Internet feed?
I use Live365, but there are many alternatives. All you
need in addition to what you have is a full-time Internet
connection. The bandwidth requirements are very low and
you would allow interested scanner enthusiasts all over
the world (me included) to monitor Fairfax County stuff
from afar. You could even monitor Fairfax stuff from home.
There is a Yahoogroup at LiveScannerAudio that is all
about this topic.
Enjoy!
