[Scan-DC] Anne Arundel Co control channel(s)

Hello,
If AACo upgrades it's system to the fully digital ASTRO 9600, that would
make it incompatible with neighboring jurisdictions in Howard and
Baltimore City, correct? What are the advantages of the higher speed
control channel, and if the region's goal is to have an integrated comm
system, why not pick the a system that uses the slower control channel?
I know that the BC250D will not be able to track the 9600 control
channel. Is that because the control channel is fully digital, rather
than a hybrid analog/digital channel? Is it possible to make a scanner
that can track the 9600 cc?
Thanks,
Charley

Folks,
Just a heads up that AACo is talking about going full digital ASTRO 9600
Control Channel late in 2003, which will probably translate into late
2004.
Baltimore County is staying put with their Type II Motorola system for
now,
because of budgetary limitations.
