Howdy all,
Did any of our Montgomery County listeners hear any radio traffic for
the house fire off of Georgia Avenue today? I was driving with my Dad
east down Norbeck Road, approaching Georgia, when we saw a column of smoke
off to our left. As we got closer to Georgia we could even see some
orange through the trees. We pulled into the neighborhood (Manor Woods I
believe it's called), parked on a side street and walked between some
houses until we got to the fire. It was burning pretty bad, most of the
second floor was gone by the time we got there. Lots of firefighters on
all sides of the house putting water on the fire, they eventually got it
put out.

This is in Sandy Spring (Station 40)'s first due. I saw the Quint 40, a
ladder truck from either Station 16 or 18, and the engine from the other
Sandy Spring station (Station 4) providing water supply on the street we
parked on. As we left we saw some units from Chevy Chase, Colesville, and
Truck 12, from the Hillandale station on New Hampshire Ave. near the PG
County border.

Oh yeah...before we saw the column we got passed by a Rockville ambulance
which we quickly figured out was headed to the fire. The odd thing was,
it looked like a converted bread/milk/UPS truck. My first thought was
"What is a bread truck doing with lights and sirens on it?" :-) Do we
have anybody in Rockville that's seen this thing?
