I used to live in Falls Church, but now live in Fredericksburg, so I
don't know about the Falls Church school buses in particular. However,
this question brings up an interesting subject I've been curious about.
As more and more of the SMR systems in the 800 MHz band (particularly
861-866) become defunct, where do the users of these systems typically
migrate? Do most simply switch to Nextel, since Nextel seems to be the
company buying up much of the spectrum? Or do they switch to UHF LTR
systems? It seems that most of the users still need use of a radio, so
they have to migrate somewhere. An 800 MHz system here in the
Fredericksburg area went silent several weeks ago, and it was fairly
active, including what sounded like a commercial ambulance provider.
Thanks,
Dave

The Falls Church school buses were on a commercial Motorola trunked
system that now appears to have gone defunct. Does anyone know what
radio system the school buses are now using?
