Hey group. Just wanted to let you know that I was very dissatisfied with
the employees at the Tyson's Corner Radio Shack. I was asking some of the
people who worked there questions I had for installing a scanner attenna to
my scanners. The guy had no idea at all what he was talking about. So when
I saw this, I decided I'd wanna see what exactly did he know. So I started
asking him about their 2m HT's. He didnt even know what the power output
was, or what frequencies they would run on. Then I went up to the manager,
and asked him if he had any walkie-talkies that could go further than FRS.
He showed me a GMRS transciever (which I knew required a license). I asked
him (the so-called manager) if I needed a license to operate it. He told me
"no". Then I asked him if he had any mobile ham equipment (and keep in mind
this was not the first man I encountered, so he did not know that I
originally came in looking for stuff for my own scanners), and he showed me
Radio Shack scanners!!! I was trying to not laugh at how dumb he was. So I
put a sincere look on my face, and asked him that if I had bought this
scanner, would I be able to transmit on ham bands? He said yes.

My point: CAVEAT EMPTOR
(I take Latin in school)
Translation: Let the buyer beware!
