I have spent a considerable amount of time at the Spring Cove Marina on my sister's
boat at Solomans Island, near the museum where the Drum Point Lighthouse is
preserved. Using a BNC whip antenna hung from a halyard about 30-35 feet up the mast,
I was able to get marginal reception of DCFD before they went to the new system. You
should have much better luck if you can get a good antenna on a tower. Most of my
listening time was spent monitoring the Calvert County and NAS Pax River trunk
systems. Unfortunately, there is little traffic on either system evenings and
weekends. If you are interested, email me off list and I will send what little
information that I do have to you.
