Several months ago I worked a New York ham through his local repeater
on 440 mhz. during a band opening from Virginia. He was talking to a
mobile in Sacremento, California, via the internet but also keying up his
local repeater. He acknowledged me and then became confused thinking he
was talking to me also via the internet and not through a local
repeater. I could hear the California mobile fine, but I could not
contact him via the local NY repeater. I still don't understand why and
he couldn't explain it. It can be a very confusing situation.
