[Scan-DC] Hand-Held Wide Band Recievers

I don't think a 14 years old has the finances to risk importing an illegal
unit into the US from overseas John. So I think the standard caveat needs to
be added to John's post regarding the Yupi 7100/9000 and any of the other
overseas units that are not FCC certified.

"It is illegal to import any radio in the United States that is NOT FCC
certified and those radios are on the Customs watch list and subject to
seizure (and no you won't get your money back)."

You should also be aware that you will not get any tech support for your
purchase in the US and Canada (if you bought it in Europe). If the radio
needs repair and it is sent overseas, it will again be subject to seizure on
the outbound and return trips. And that is Federal law and yes, we continue
to get notices of people who have been busted by the Customs service and
their radios seized.

Regarding the Yupi 9000, since this radio does not have FCC certification
due to the open cellular band, you can get this radio from outside the US.
Due to shipping costs, and insurance this raises the price of the radio
nearly $100. Add that to the going price of around $700 and you have a hefty
investment to consider here. Got $800 you want to gamble with?

Check out the Yupiteru 9000 MKII. I have one and it does exceptionally well
on HF, both with AM broadcast and with amateur CW and SSB. Also, the
Yupiteru 7100 has had good reviews for HF. Take a look at the reviews on:
