Does anyone have a handheld wideband reciever. I am considering getting
one, but I hear rumors that handheld wideband recievers are horrible at
picking up anything below 30 MHz. Is this true? Presently, I just have a
uniden BC895XLT scanner. It goes up all the way to 950MHz (I think); thus I
wonder.... What is there worth listening to above 900 MHz? And also, most
scanners dont cover between 500 and 800 MHz, what exists in this band?
Also, I have narrowed my choice on which wideband receivers to get, down to
3 contenders. The Yaesu VR-500, the ICOM IC-R10, and the Alinco DJ-X10T
(which looks to be the best so far). Does anyone have any of these? What
do you think of them?
PS - Please dont bother telling me to buy a tabletop reciever instead of
handheld. I am 14 years old, and one of those is too rich for my blood.
