Remarkable accomplishments Dick. Personally, I have 261 awarded on RTTY, with 10
or so FT8 pending, which I have chosen not to apply for. I am a relative
newcomer on RTTY only starting in 2008 when I was looking for something to do
with my new K3. And of course, all of my operation has been from right here in
Tucson.
Many DXpeditions today still include some RTTY. Unfortunately, many aren't even
doing CW on 160 (or 80) but copping out with FT8. (Sorry Gene) The question
would be, how many would operate RTTY if it was a separate mode and folks
requested it? As it stands now the easy way out for them is to operate FT8
which fulfills the need for "Digital."
According to the ARRL website we do have a DXAC member. But whether or not he's
interested, I've heard that the league doesn't listen to them anyway. Pity,
changing back to a RTTY award would probably be a few lines of code and the
separate Digital award fees would probably be a profit center.
