Subject: [SADXA] 40m SN Propagation update 12-18-21

If anyone has been listening on 40m CW around the SN hour, it is likely the
best DX you have heard is East Coast.
The Solar Flux is currently 118 and Sun Spot Number SSN is 117. These higher
Solar Indices are causing much greater path loss to the East Coast,
preventing an RF trip to the EU.
Darrel, AA7FV ran a WSPR RX experiment today, showing NO DX in the 40m Solar
Noon Window, only from the East Coast.
This is in stark contrast to the WSPR data in Dec of 2019 with many paths to
the EU and Elsewhere in the 40m SN Window.
In Dec of 2019 the SSN was 0 and the Flux was about 68.
If the FLUX drops back to 80 and SSN drops to 12 again, we still might have
a shot at 40m SN DX.
Darrel is prepared to run WSPR again, if we can get some better solar
indices (LOW IS GOOD).
If you observe the FLUX and SSN drop, give it another try.
I was not sure what to expect, but the recent high solar indices during Dec
Solstice is not good.

I hope we don't need to wait until 2030 for another shot at 40m SN DX?

73's and hope all have a great Christmas Holiday and best of New Year.
