[SADXA] Yaesu G800DXA rotor problems

Just my 2 cents worth.  So many people assume the problem is with the potentiometer in the rotor, but don't discount that it may be damage to the circuitry in the control box.

When my GS800A crapped out I now just use a cheap multimeter and read the resistance of the rotor pot.
It shows a pretty smooth operation.   Because I am CHEAP.  Not perfect but it works.  I make a notecard with ohms vs azimuth..

Just sayin.

Well, I ran the rotor back and forth to 180 degrees and still have problems. I've played with the adjustments to try and see if I could do the initial setup again while watching the antenna rotate from the ground and it still is fast rotating at times then slows down and when I release the control the dial will swing back nearly 60 degrees. I've ordered the cable for control from my FT 1200dx radio to see if that makes a difference.

My YAESU 2800 exhibits similar symptoms.

I run the Rotor back and forth (+/-90 deg) a few times
and the problem goes away. Let it sit for a while and
the issue may re-appear.

Not the best of Rotors, great specs but lousy lifetime.

Hi All,

I'm having problems with my Yaesu G800DXA rotor. When I rotate the antenna it is very slow, when I release the control it swings back 20 degrees. The alignment also ends up being off. I have read that it may be a pot on the rotor that is now bad after three years use. Does anyone have experience with this problem?
