[SADXA] Yaesu G800DXA rotor problems

Dennis, this sounds like a controller issue. It's possible that its
circuitry received a static discharge through the controller lines that
damaged the electronics. I don't know how the Yaesu documentation reads
but if it's similar to the HyGain instructions, there will be a table
that shows how much the resistance should be across certain pairs of
terminals on the control box. If some measurement is seriously amiss,
then there's a problem within the box.
If you have a spare control box, or know somebody who can lend one to
you, a good test would be to swap them out and see how the motor behaves
with the substitute in place. If the problem remains, then you've
probably ruled out one possible cause. In that case I'd next check the
connectors and control lines for water damage and open or shorted wires.

I've played with the adjustments to try and see if I could do the initial setup again while watching the antenna rotate from the ground and it still is fast rotating at times then slows down and when I release the control the dial will swing back nearly 60 degrees. I've ordered the cable for control from my FT 1200dx radio to see if that makes a difference.

I have read that it may be a pot on the rotor that is now bad after three years use. Does anyone have experience with this problem?
