Wes...

Nice to hear that you finally got the 9LY1 guys.

Under the right conditions 160 is an amazing band.
Over the years I've managed to QSO over 120 DXCC
entities on 160 using a trapped 160/80 meter dipole
with apex at 52 feet: TX and RX. 400 Watts max.
    City lot in Chandler.
    IT CAN BE DONE!!!!

I've been chasing this expedition on various bands for several days. Two
nights
ago I called them for hours on 160 CW only to hear them answer nothing but
EU.

Last night at about 0435Z I saw them spotted on 160 RTTY for goodness sake.
I
made about three calls and worked them! I started having thoughts that it
might
be a pirate but they recently updated Clublog and there is my RTTY QSO.
Pretty
amazing.

The serious Topband guys swear that you can't work DX without a dedicated
low-noise RX antenna and the legal limit. I'm using my vertical TX antenna
on
RX and 500W. Go figure.
