Hi Dave,

WOW!!

Thanks so much for your contribution to 40m DX at SN, even though it was
4:01am Tucson Time - and Congratulations!!

It turns out, SN in Matfors is 11:46am, and it was 12:01pm in Sweden during
your QSO, if I did the math correctly.

Thus, Sten SM3NXS worked you SN+15 min HIS TIME.

THUS, this was definitely 40m DAY TIME SOLAR NOON DX Contact, and does not
get much better than this.

Notice how close Sten was to the North Terminator. He is in prime position
for 40m SN DX.

If you recall my 40m DAY DX presentation, I showed a DX MAPS at SN for EU
with a BALL of Propagation from the EU to the US last Dec 21st.

You have just 1st hand contributed to and confirmed the whole idea of 40m SN
DX.

YES, THERE IS SOMETHING TO 40M DAYTIME SOLAR NOON DX DUIRNG DEC SOLSTICE.

Glad you got up EARLY for this achievement.

Hope you are able to do the same at OUR SN!!

That's one of the issues with OUR SN, DX is sleeping!! Hi Hi

Congrates!!

73's

I sometimes suffer from insomnia, and this morning was one of those
occasions. I got up at 3:30 AM to check out 40 meters. If you're up that
early you may as well try for some Asians on 40, right?

I didn't get Japan, but I worked SM3NXS out of Sweden at 1101 UTC. A check
of what the daylight pattern using www.timeanddate.com at that time shows
that he was in daylight and not too far past his solar noon. I'd guess
within one hour. He was working several East Coast stations and I jumped in
when he was clear. Signal reports both ways were 539, but 100% copy at my
end.

This is not my first time getting Europe on 40, but it is my first time
getting them at this time of day.

I think Sten, SM3NXS, will concur that there's something to this 40 meter
daylight DX during/near the winter solstice.

73,

Dave
