Gene, K5GS, who has been on a number of DXpeditions and I think is currently working going on another one, lives here in Tucson. You might connect with him and see what he has to say about what you should do to get ready to go do a DXpedition.
I think Mike KH6ND either lives in or spends a bunch of time in Tucson, has been involved in a number DXpeditions also. He might be worth contacting to see what he has to tell you.
