Good afternoon Mr. Slusser,
It is interesting how misinformation spreads. I say this
because we have no intentions of letting the RFI program expire; I view it
as part of our obligation to serve. What we have not determined is how
Gary's well deserved retirement will change our program. As of this email
no specific decision has been made, however; conversations are ongoing
regarding this topic. Thank you for taking the time to contact me. David

Dear Mr. Thomas,
I have heard through the amateur radio grapevine that Gary Bruins, our TEP
resident RFI chaser is soon to retire and that you are considering letting
this program expire.
Gary has been a real asset to the amateur radio community, especially to me
on at least two occasions, with solving problems in the immediate area of my
home where we were receiving interference from errant power poles devices.
Another time, Gary helped me to determine that there was RFI emitting from a
source on Davis Monthan Air Force Base were we were able to bring it to the
attention of the communications personnel there. That particular
interference was causing problems for several UHF radio repeaters in the
area.
Gary volunteered and gave very informative presentations to several of the
Amateur Radio Clubs in the Tucson area and provided invaluable education to
the club members in helping them to recognize the sources and various cures
for TVI and radio receiver interference.
I know that many of the Tucson amateurs have lauded TEP for its RFI problem
solving and I have heard comments from those outside of Tucson wishing that
they had a similar program where they live.
Please realize that RFI/TVI detection a very valuable public service to the
community, and of course, to amateur radio operators. I believe that it is
worth the extra expense to your company to provide us with the service.
Thank you for your consideration and I hope that you will retain your RFI
location program.
