[SADXA] Transverters

My experience is limited to the good old days on 2M and some more recent modest activity on 6M using an 80-meter dipole and my K3. In the good old days, I didn't consider 6-M to be VHF and never participated, but I've been out voted.

Six meter propagation is a lot like 10-meters, just less of it. There will likely be some long distance DX via F2 at the next sunspot peak, but that is predicted to by pretty dismal compared to previous peaks.

Otherwise there is sporadic E (Es), sometimes double-hop which will get you across country with 20 watts with a decent antenna.

That said, I worked a couple of JAs using the aforementioned K3+150 feet of coax and the 80-meter dipole on Field Day two years ago. I have 6 countries and 25 states worked with this combination and some very casual operating.

Two-meters used to have a very active local group in S. AZ, but I think that has probably dwindled. With more power and a decent antenna, I used to routinely work into S. CA, Las Vegas, S. UT and NM on tropo. There are now guys using digital modes for meteor scatter and EME, but these are still higher power games. (Old timers like W7CS and me don't consider these real contacts tho.)

So your best bet is probably 6-meters.
